Dinosaur (Lacinato) Kale
(3/12/2013) I have heard a lot of chatter about the great nutrition value of dinosaur kale. I have also been interested in making kale chips and green smoothies with the power food. I purchased some seeds off of ebay and gave it a go. The planter bed is loaded with black cow manure, topsoil, egg shells, coffee grounds, and various organic matter from previous failed plants.
(3/12/2013) I received this was housing this plant for a friend and it slowly became a fixture in the planter bed. I have no idea what to do with it. I have tried it raw but its bitter flavor punch has put me off. If you have any suggestions, I would gladly try them.
Asian Pear Cocktail Tree
(3/12/2013) I was so tickled to find this Frankenstein-like tree at a local nursery. The grafted tree houses four types of pears: Hosui, Shinko, Shinseiki, and Twentieth Century Pear. I removed all of the branch labels because I love a surprise. It is waking up from dormancy and has a few buds shooting from the branches.
